Duane Halderman
December 2, 1951 - August 28, 2013
Duane Halderman, 61, of LaPorte passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 6:08 p.m. at IU LaPorte Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Partenberry officiating. Burial will follow services in Pine Lake Cemetery in La Porte. Viewing will be held on Monday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home.
Full military rites will be observed at the cemetery by American Legion Post #169 from New Buffalo, Michigan.
Duane was born December 2, 1951 in Sioux City, Iowa to the late Oscar and Dolores (Platz) Halderman.
On April 24, 1982 in Fort Hood, Texas he married Sheila (Freyer) Halderman who is surviving in La Porte.
Also surviving are three children: Becky (Skip) Spencer of Kingsbury; Tracy Ladra of Michigan City and Lance Halderman of Rolling Prairie; ten grandchildren: Rodney (Elyssa) Pineda, Bruce Hutchinson, Kristi Ladra, Nicolas Leslie, Austin Halderman, Landon Halderman, Lucas Halderman, Lorraine Halderman, Seabrina Spencer and Jake Spencer; one great-grandson: RJ Pineda; two sisters: Cathy (Butch) Ray of Oregon and Linda Foster of Ecuador; and two brothers: Ken (Liz) Halderman of Virginia and Paul (Nancy) Halderman of Colorado.
Prerceding him in death is one grandson: Xavior Duane Halderman; one sister: Nancy Halderman and one brother: Richard Halderman.
Duane was an assembler at Sullair for ten years.
He was a proud army veteran serving his country for twenty years and a member of the DAV and American Legion Post #169 in New Buffalo, Michigan. He loved to fish and spending time with his grandchildren.
