Richard D. "Dick" Dipert, 83, of Michigan City passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at his home in Michigan City.
Cremation will take place.
The Root Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Dick was born March 24, 1940 in Michigan City to the late Orlo and Lois Jean (Killingbeck) Dipert.
He married Joan Rittmeyer who is surviving in Michigan City.
Also surviving is one son, David (Becky) Dipert; two grandchildren, John and Delani Dipert; one great-grandchild, Elana; one sister, Patricia Street; and brother in law George Hunsick' sister in law, Nancy (lLoyd) Bielski and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by one son Jeff Dipert; one granddaughter, Lauren Dipert; one sister, Carol Hunsick and one brother Jim Dipert; and sister in law Cynthia Dipert.
Dick retired from the Michigan City Post after 34 years of service. After retirement he went on at Enterprise Rental Car for 18 years and helped the Salvation Army and help out at the Michigan City Zoo running the railroad.
He loved to spend is free time fishing and going up to Minnesota with his buds once a year on their fishing trip. He was an animal lover who was on the Michiana Humane Society Board and a Past President. He was a proud veteran serving in the US Navy on the USS Borie. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
