Ruby Eldridge, 73, of Michigan City passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 6:20 p.m. at her son's home in Michigan City.
Viewing will be on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
Ruby was born May 16, 1938 in Harrisburg, Arkansas to the late Allie and Gladys (Thompson) Thomas.
On February 1, 1957 in Michigan City she married Jack Eldridge who passed away on April 27, 1984.
Surviving is one son: Jack (Brenda) Eldridge of Michigan City; one grandson: Toby Michael Eldridge of Colorado; one granddaughter: Amber Ulam of Michigan City; one great-granddaughter Allison Wilson of Michigan City; one brother: Charlie (Jana) Thomas of Michigan City and one brother-in-law W.R. Spencer of Michigan City.
Preceding her in death are two sisters: Helen Spencer and Donna Cole.
Ruby retired after 27 years at Carson Pirie Scott and was currently worlking at the VF Outlet as a sales associate.
She enjoyed working and was known as "Grandma Ruby". She loved cooking and baking especially with her great-granddaughter Allison.
