Virginia R. Lowery

Virginia R. Lowery, 81, of Michigan City passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home with Rev. Terry McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 1:00 - 500 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Scott Tanber, Ryan Tanber, Joel Stevens, Jonathan Chambers, Jeffery Joseph Lowery and nephew Richard Baker.
Virginia was born Septemner 4, 1930 in Michigan City to the late John and Regina (Fantano) Zarantonello.
On December 17, 1949 in Michigan City she married Morris Lowery who passed away on December 25, 2009 after 60 years of marriage.
Surviving are three daughters: Sharon (Bruce) Tanber, Phyllis (Freddy) Stevens, Belinda (Jeff) Taylor all of Michigan City; one son: Jeffery Lowery of Lexington, KY; ten grandchildren: Scott (Heather) Tanber, Ryan Tanber, Jeffery Joseph Lowery, Shelly Stevens, Tara (Michael) Hackett, Kristy (Mark) Hardacker, Joel (Renee) Stevens, Carrie (Josh) Bailey, Gina Chambers and Jonathan Chambers; seventeen Great-Grandchildren; two sisters: Margaret Baker and Angelina Jasch both of Michigan City; and one brother: Peter (Sylvia) Zaranonello of Portage.
Preceding her in death is one brother: George Zarantonello.
She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church and was a charter member of Temple Bible Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandma, loving Nonni, sister, aunt and friend to many. She loved flowers and especially roses.
